Wishing Town Restaurant & Bakery | Our Story
A restaurant and bakery built on craft
Wishing Town Restaurant & Bakery brings handmade dim sum and regional Chinese cooking to the New Orleans area — a place where the food is made with care and the welcome is genuine.
Flavors from across China's regions
The menu draws from distinct regional traditions — Beijing Zhajiang Noodles, Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles, Cantonese Beef Rice Noodle Soup, and Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, each cooked the right way.
Dim sum made by hand
The dim sum here is made to order — from mini steamed buns and sticky rice in lotus leaf to crispy fried chicken dumplings. Guests can watch dumplings being rolled fresh behind the counter; that's just how it's done.
The bakery side of things
The bakery counter brings flaky pastries, fresh fruit cakes, and signature Baogers — a creative cross between a bao bun and something entirely their own. Bubble tea rounds out the experience.
Metairie, then Uptown
Wishing Town opened first in Metairie at 3535 Severn Ave, quickly becoming a neighborhood staple. The Uptown location on Nashville Ave followed in 2022, covered by Eater NOLA, bringing the same handmade menu to a second corner of the city.
